India Fine Arts was started in the year 1995 by few Indian high tech professionals and doctors who felt the need for more Indian music and dance programs to meet the growing population from the Indian subcontinent and also to create a greater understanding and appreciation among the local population for Indian culture. The main focus was to promote the greater understanding and appreciation of Indian culture among the community residents , the second generation children and to reach out to the underserved sections of the community. To accomplish these goals, the following activities were planned and undertaken:
1. Sponsor distinguished artists from India (both vocal and instrumental musicians and dancers and musicologists) and arrange concerts and lecture demonstrations by them making them free for children and local communities.
2. Conduct workshops and audio and video demonstrations on various aspects of Indian music and dance and provide hands-on training for the attendees.
3. Promote the Indian performing arts by teaching the children on a regular basis through the members of the India Fine Arts.
4. Create a web site with the names of all the available music and dance teachers in Austin area, giving out their specialized fields of music and dance.
5. Provide artists for various ethnic groups in community events like fairs etc.
6. Arrange events in local schools, universities and in areas where the people are underserved.
7. Publication and distribution of writings, papers, books, pamphlets, newspapers, periodicals and other publications concerning Indian arts and culture and to arrange literary programs, theatrical and other entertainments.
